We fought hard

Tianjin Quanjian went to Workers’ Stadium to face Beijing Guoan and unfortunately came back home with a defeat by 3-2. Paulo Sousa’s squad fought hard until the end, but the opponent, that is China Super League’s leader, didn’t make it an easy match.

In the first half of the game Tianjin wasn’t in a good time, but tried to make a well done job in the defensive part. In the other side, Beijing was very encouraged by the crowd in the stadium, pressing too hard to get to the goal.

The home team had 67% of ball possession in the 45 opening minutes of the game and had nine goal attempts. On the other hand, Tianjian didn’t have any chance to score in the first stage. Despite that, the first goal was scored only in the 39th minute of the match, when Beijing attacked by the left with Bakambu and Renato Augusto showed up to make 1-0.

Just three minutes later, the brazilian midfielder started a move by the left again, Jonathan Vieira crossed the ball and Dabao Yu extended the difference, leaving the score 2-0.

The teams went to half time and the recommendations made by Paulo Sousa in the locker seems to made effect in Tianjin Quanjian. The players came back to field with another motivation and started to make a good game. The numbers shows that – in the second part of the match, the visitors had 51% of ball possession against 49% of the home team. Despite that, Beijing scored again, with Cedric Bakambu.

Tianjin didn’t discouraged and was still trying to reverse the negative score. The insistence became a goal in the 76th minute: Yang Xu scored – this was the second time in two games! Five minutes later was the time to Alexandre Pato cross-kick and make it 3-2. This was brazilian player’s 7th goal in CSL.

In the end, the efforts weren’t enough to revert the score, but Tianjin showed strength until the final whistle. Now it’ time to focus on the next match, against Changchun Yatai, in the upcoming Sunday, 29th July.
