This Sunday night (8) Tianjin went to Guiyang to face Guizhou Hengfeng Zhicheng for the fifth round of the Chinese Super League. In a tought game and with many yellow cards, Paulo Sousa’s team got an 1-0 win.

After the loss to Guangzhou Evergrande – current vice leader of CSL – in the last round of the championship, the Tianjin team found their way back to victory. Motivated by classification in the Asian Champions League knockout phase, players and coach showed they are able to fight for the top positions in the national championship.

But it was not an easy game. The desire to come out victorious and the notion of the importance of the match resulted in a hard game with four yellow cards for Paulo Sousa’s team. With great command of the first half, the defender Jie Wang opened the scoring for the visiting team at the minute 27.

The encounter between Tianjin Quanjian and Guizhou Hengfeng Zhicheng is known to be balanced. And this time was not different. Even being behind on the scoreboard, Guizhou Hengfeng entered the second half more organized. They managed to reach with more danger to the goal of Lu Zhang but they failure aim in the finalizations. Even with the change of posture of Gregorio Manzano’s team, Tianjin could handle the pressure and secured the 1-0 score.

The team showed that they got used to playing in the 3-4-2-1 formation adopted by Sousa. With this organization in the field, the coach shows that the team can have a solid organization both offensive and defensive. In addition to a quick play in counter attack, especially with Axel Witsel’s sprints, the team can attack with four players and defend with five.

With that victory Tianjin Quanjian jumped to 10th place in the table with 6 points. In the next round the team plays at home against Jiangsu Sainty, 6th placed in Chinese Super League. The game will be on Friday, April 13.
