A TOUGH DEFEAT AT HOME
28 April 2018
After visit Dalian and achieving a great victory against Dalian Chanjoy by the CFA Cup, Tianjin Quanjian returned to play in his hometown, this time to face Hebei China Fortune for the Chinese Super League. But unfortunately this time the result was different. The Tianjin team lose by 0-3 in a game marked by poor accuracy in the finalizations.
There are days when things just do not happen as we expect. Today was a day like this for Tianjin Quanjian.
The team came to the field confidently, after getting a beautiful win away from home in their last game. And the first minutes of the match only confirmed expectations, with the Tianjin team taking an offensive stance, playing with a 4-3-3 formation and performing a lot of shots to the goal. This ensured a mastery of the first half of the game. Before 30 minutes of play, two Hebei players had yellow cards.
But as they say, “football is a box of surprises.” The recommendations made in the locker room by coach Manuel Pellegrini seemed to have an effect. Gradually Langfang’s team managed to balance the statistics, even finishing the game with more possession.
At 58 minutes, Ezequiel Lavezzi opened the score for the visitors. Just 5 minutes later, Jin Yangyang received assistance from the same Ezequiel Lavezzi and extended the difference, leaving the score 0-2.
Paulo Sousa sought to change his team, putting Yang Xu in place of Pei Shuai to strengthen the midfield. But the goals conceded seemed to make a big impact in Tianjin team. At 77 minutes the Argentine Ezequiel Lavezzi appeared again to score, taking all the hopes of Paulo’s team.
After the third goal, the match started to stay tense. Many fouls, complaints, and misunderstandings made the referee show four more yellow cards only in overtime. Even with two more changes made, Paulo Sousa and his players could not reverse the score of 0-3.
With the negative result, Paulo Sousa’s team fell to 13th place in the championship table. The next match for the Chinese Super League takes place on May 5, against Chongqing SWM. But before the team has another commitment at home, facing Jiangsu Suning on May 1, for the fifth round of the CFA CUP.
